Leather Craft Accessories & Shiny Goodness

16/6/2014

Weilding a mallet and knives... Loving leather, and currently working on shiny things you can adorn yourself with.

As usual, there's a sculptural twist on most pieces - I've perfected a few traditional Leathercraft Hand-tooling  techniques, and dded some Minikem flair...

Tribal fusion gypsy boho couture pieces, lovingly handmade, are waiting for you at my little Etsy store. Wrist-cuffs, Statement neckpieces, pendant necklaces, masquerade masks, and more.

Check them out, I'm also taking requests if you'd like something a bit different.

Peace x Emily.

Divine Deco

6/7/2012

The latest collection is well underway and getting ready for Spring Fashion week and the Racing Carnival.
Expect pieces to revisit 1920s and 30s themes in my 'Divine Deco' range. Think tales of backstage theatrics, Parisian nightlife, and vintage glamour, all in a modern colour palette to coordinate your Racing Carnival look. Those of you drawn to the darker side, are also covered,  with a 'Dia De Los Muertos' inspired Spanish flair also featuring in the collection.

This week I got to shoot with award winning photographer Anna Zaharakis. Here's a  'Backstage' peek at my MUA and Styling.

Minikem hats snapped at the Royal Ascot

25/6/2012

Last night on television, one of my hats was seen on 60 Minutes reporter, Liz Hayes -
Reporting Black Caviars win at the Royal Ascot races in England. Thrilled to see my work on tv, and the colour looked great on Liz!
Also sending a big congratulations out to the Black Caviar team, well done.

Launch Your Label Australia

15/6/2012

Picture
Hello again,
It's a very busy little studio right now, and the most exciting bit of news here, is that my Millinery Designs made the Top Ten in Launch your Label Australia!

I've just sent off a piece for judging for round two... Here's a peek at the item.

I went with one from my 'Divine Deco' theme, 'Apex' in Raspberry & Gunmetal grey Silks.  Apex stems from my look at Art Nouveau artists like Lalique and some entomology research when making some 'butterfly' hats.
For a fly, the lacewing is really quite a pretty little bug.

What's next for the competition? Despite a minor spanner in the works (thank-you laryngitis for stealing my voice, day 5 now, seriously), a little video is currently in the works, with or without my voice - it should be up here next week.

Watching bands...

1/3/2012

I've been loving a bit of glam rock again lately, blame the Jeffrey Campbell shoes every other gal is wearing (i do love them though), even compelled to rummage through the garage until i found my old patent leather platforms. It's been about 8 years since i last wore them, i missed them!

Teamed them up with Union Jack sequin leggings and a boyfriend Tee.
And had good night out to see Amanda Palmer - whose band members, i might add, were all dressed up like Adam Ants new-romantic dandies, they looked and sounded great.

DIY afternoon

Working on some Graphic design in Illustrator again, I got a bit sidetracked when searching for Sans serif fonts... The afternoon ended up being a stencil art DIY nod to the Stones, and of course with a matching soundtrack to cut and paint to.

Minikem Modiste 2011

15/9/2011

The evening went off without a hitch!
Guests were greeted with a glass of bubbly (served by a dashing young waiter i might add, the ladies were a flutter), and the collection was launched.
A lovely speech by Melbournestyle Galleries Maree Coote, and assistance on the night by hair stylist Thomai ensured the ladies could try on the pieces in style. Photographer Anna Zaharakis snapped some candid pics of the guests, whom included singer Sammy Paul and jewelry designer Aaron Simpson.
